How dumb can Americans be ?.
Just by the look of all the republican nominees I would say as dumb as a bag of Doughnuts.
When will the Republicans wake up and start dropping out of the race, cant believe Bush is the most Intelligent one.
If Cruz or Rubio stupidly fight each other Trump will piss it.

Yeah but that's on the basis that you believe it was a scam. I believe it was no more than the same sort of selling job that any government or company does (or any job applicant does on their cv and in an interview). Telling the story with as positive a spin as possible. I believe that what makes this one remarkable isn't the nature or the level of the deceit but the way it was so manipulated by the media into such a huge story. Now everyone believes that Blair is the devil and the war was the most corrupt deceit imaginable. Neither is true in my book.

No one doubts that Hussein used chemical weapons at various points in the past. And for that matter no one in their right minds reckons that the factories they visited hadn't been used for that purpose before. What is in doubt is whether there was any currency to the threat. And the old adage of "absence of proof is not proof of absence" is a fairly sound one.

Not that I'm banging the drum for the war, rather spiking the massive industry that's been spun around it.

It has to be low on spelling and grammar too......never have I seen such poor writing at senior management level as in the US.

People cannot spell here! They can't form sentences. They can't use grammar. It is astonishing.

Perhaps you don't see the irony of some of those whose views on foreign people are, let's say, "colourful" who are so apparently outraged now at the idea of going into conflict with those same people!

The US election could become an exercise in repeating mistakes and convincing the roW that most Americans are in fact stupid.

If reality sets in and Americans realise how much of an idiot Trump is, then they will repeat the McCain/Palin fiasco of 2008 and turn the election into a one horse race.

If the worst happens and Trump wins then we all know how stupid Americans really are.

So a government, convinced of its stance, puts together a report that emphasises its position with a positive spin. Is that really news to anyone? Suez? Crimea? EU in or out? Any other cause or political stance you care to think of? Amusing that you think so and that its some amazing conspiracy of the great evil that is Tony Blair.

I thought that was what normally went on.

I can recall Blair saying if we saw the evidence he had seen we would understand his actions. But that of course he couldn't reveal it at the time for presumably operational reasons.
Can we see this evidence now?

Interesting back then. Remember that Hans Blix found absolutely no evidence whatsoever of WMDs let alone a ready to go delivery system.

Unfortunately Blair had thrown his lot in with a fellow practising Christian and they conspired to hoodwink both the USA and UK elected politicians. Personally I do not think that IDS was gulled by Blair. For my money Bush would have been at least as deeply buried in his rectum's as Blair's.

However the really big surprise for me is that ardent Tory Infidel ( and don't be fooled by his denials because he has canvassed on doorsteps for his fellow Tory mates ) who never fails to remind us of his intellectual heft etc. Purports to have been totally fooled by Alistair Campbell's sexed up dossier. Odd that the rest of us with our miniature intellects saw through it all along.

No, I am not scathing of them.

The HoC was presented with the Iraq Dossier,a compelling document compiled by Alistair Campbell.

It made it clear that the intelligence services believed beyond any reasonable doubt that Saddam had acquired weapons of mass destruction and intended to deploy them,including against British targets (in Cyprus,as I recall).

It never occurred to the MPs in the chamber that the entire document was a work of fiction. They believed that no British Prime Minister would even contemplate lying to the whole country about the need to go to war.

I think you have to see the votes of all the MPs -Labour and Tory - who voted for the invasion in the context of that incredible piece of dishonesty and manipulation by Blair.

Why on earth he has not been jailed is beyond me.

Some American commentator mentioned yesterday that Trump is not the huge business success he eludes to, when comparing the huge fortune he inherited with the not so huge fortune he current has.
